LPN jobs are composed of variety of responsibilities. Medication Protocol

In a hospital setting, every patient confined is under the protocol of medication. Because of this, licensed practical nurses are given the job to monitor the medications, the dosages and the assurance that the patients will take the prescribed medication on the right time. Jobs during Emergency Cases

There are various assignments in the hospital. Just in case you are assigned in the emergency room, you may encounter patients who are highly tensed and injured. Once you are in this area of the hospital, doctors are usually assigned to the severely injured patients. On the other hand, licensed practical nurses are assigned to the patients with moderate condition. Particularly, ER nurses are given the jobs to:

Maintenance of IV Line Patency

Intravenous line is considered as the lifeline of patients. Because of this, licensed practical nurses are given the job to keep an eye with the intravenous line. Aside from that, licensed practical nurses are also given the task to change some dislodged IV lines, provide tracheostomy care, change fluid bags, administer epidural infusions and supply patients with oxygen.

Patient’s Hygiene

A lot of nurses overlook the aspect of patient’s hygiene. This is also one of the LPN jobs that they must do. Basically, they are assigned to provide bedside care to their clients. Changing of bed linens, changing of hospital clothes, providing bed bath, shampooing, assisting in providing oral care and other bedside care are also delegated to nurses. It is important to promote patient hygiene to make sure that their patient’s overall health will be promoted.
